A popular picnic ground since the 1890s, Mount Stuart Recreation Reserve features many significant specimen trees, such as sequoia, oak, lime, poplar and Dutch elm. Today there are multiple picnic tables available and ample parking.

While you're here visit the memorial to Edward Peters who discovered gold in the area in 1858 or walk the Woolshed Valley Track. This easy 40 minute return walk follows the Tokomairiro River to Woolshed Valley at Glenore.

Camping is not permitted in the reserve.
